Vagina Tightening

The vagina is a structure made up of connective and muscle tissue. Naturally, during normal birth, the baby must expand as it passes through the vagina and grow enough to accommodate the baby in the canal. Although it cannot fully return to its former form over time after birth, it is expected to shrink a little again.

What is Vagina Tightening?

In some women, it is not possible to regain its former form after giving birth and may remain large. It can also occur due to other facilitating reasons such as frequent sexual intercourse, loose muscle tissue, genetic factors, and age.

Over time, the enlargement of the vagina will cause discomfort to both partners during sexual intercourse, decrease in sexual satisfaction, recurrent vaginal infections, gas during sexual intercourse, urinary incontinence.

Over time, this can lead to frigidity and sexual reluctance, and loss of self-confidence may occur.

Vaginal tightening is the methods used to strengthen the vaginal tissue that expands after childbirth, post-menopause or age, and to increase vaginal tone.

Who Needs Vagina Tightening Surgery?

Conditions that may require vaginal tightening include:

  • Feeling of normal postpartum enlargement (both partners or only one partner)
  • Even if you have not given birth, your collagen structure or the enlargement of the vagina due to frequent intercourse
  • Decreased sexual pleasure, lack of sexual desire
  • Gas from the vagina during intercourse
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Recurrent vaginal infections

Risk Factors Contributing to Vaginal Looseness

1-) Age

Vaginal laxity can occur naturally with aging in some women, a result of the gradual weakening and atrophy of the muscles and tissues of the vagina over time.

2-) Multiple Vaginal Births

Evidence suggests that having more than one vaginal delivery may increase the chances of vaginal fatigue and incomplete recovery of pre-pregnancy vaginal tightness.

3-) Trauma During Vaginal Birth or Other Event

This category includes damage to the pelvic floor muscles that surround the vagina and help maintain its position and shape. Varying degrees of musculoskeletal trauma often occur in vaginal delivery and therefore this is likely to be a common occurrence.

Thus, in a broad sense, a young mother who has had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery often fully recovers vaginal tightness within the first 6 months after giving birth to her first child.

Women who have had children later in life, have had multiple vaginal deliveries, or have suffered more serious injuries during childbirth are at higher risk of experiencing chronic vaginal loosening for more than the first 6-12 months.

What are the vaginal tightening methods?

  • Surgical narrowing of the vagina (vaginoplastitis),
  • Lasers vagina tightening,
Vagina Reduction with Laser Co2 (Carbon dioxide laser) lasers are used. It is mostly preferred in women who have not given birth and have slight enlargement. Regeneration and tightening are provided by stimulating the subcutaneous and connective tissue with the carbon dioxide laser.

  • When this procedure is applied to both the anterior and posterior parts of the vagina, the result is much more effective.

How Common Is This Complaint In Birth Mothers?

Vaginal enlargement is a subjective and self-reported sexual health issue. There is no objective measure of this, and so there are few good statistics on the prevalence of vaginal laxity after vaginal delivery.

When investigated, vaginal enlargement is typically combined with other female sexual dysfunctions. A recent Australian study of first-time mothers found that 58% of mothers reported some form of female sexual dysfunction one year after giving birth.

  • Insufficient wetting
  • Abnormal vaginal sensation,
  • Vaginal looseness,
  • Vaginal tightness,
  • Pain in intercourse,
  • Urinary incontinence during intercourse was their main complaint.

An earlier survey of 25- to 45-year-old women who had had at least one vaginal birth found that about half of women had concerns about vaginal laxity. It has also been reported to be the most common physical concern discussed with obstetricians after vaginal delivery.

Vaginal enlargement therefore appears to be a fairly common complaint, or at least a meaningful concern for many women after vaginal delivery.

Vaginal Enlargement, Not Sagging!

Vaginal laxity is a condition that is different from vaginal sagging, but can sometimes be confused with it.

With vaginal laxity, the vaginal tissue relaxes and this is associated with a decreased feeling of tightness. In contrast, displacement of pelvic organs (such as the bladder, rectum, urethra, or small intestine) with vaginal prolapse pushes the walls of the vagina out of its normal position. This can manifest as a “falling” feeling and uncomfortable or painful intercourse.

Vaginal tightening (vaginoplasty) is the most effective way to restore the normal structure of congenital or acquired vaginal width. As a result of the procedure, you will be able to feel more relaxed, self-confident and, of course, fully enjoy your sex life.

What is vaginoplasty and why is it necessary?

Vaginal tightening (vaginoplasty) is an operation performed to restore the normal anatomical structure of the vagina to fulfill its sexual, obturator and protective functions.

During the operation, defects and stretching of the walls of the vagina, cicatricial deformities are eliminated, which leads to a decrease in the volume of the vagina, narrowing of its lumen, increased sensitivity and density during sexual intercourse.
